Taylor with her two youngest children,
Dean and Sidney, back in 2009.
Taylor Sims has been in martial arts for five years, and has been teaching children martial arts for over two and a half years now and has written a paper on exactly what is needed to teach
martial arts to children with special needs. She has put together this program
with her Master Instructor, Mary Treacy, who has been in martial arts since
1987 and has been teaching since 1990. Master Treacy is a well-respected artist
and is consistently asked to teach throughout the country. Master Treacy has
taught Ms. Sims everything that she knows!
Ms. Sims is a mother of four children, of which three have been bullied in school. Ms. Sims has been a
victim of abuse as a child, and also as an adult, including being attacked at her child's elementary school. She
does not want any abuse to continue. With what is going on with children being abducted, abused sexually
and physically, as well as with the bullying that occurs not only in school, but also on the playground, it is about time
that there was a program like this. This program, the My Body Belongs to Me! Program, was designed to help stop,
or even prevent, violence by helping children understand what to do should they find
themselves in a situation.
Dragonfly Martial Arts is not a Martial Arts School in the traditional sense. So, there is no need to worry about
solicitation to students for any classes. There is no sparring, takedowns, or wrestling
involved with this program. Dragonfly Martial Arts is only here for the
children, and only teaches the My Body Belongs to Me Program to day care
centers, elementary schools and churches, etc.
